Divorce, separation and ending a long-term relationship is a traumatic time. |
EVERYONE IS WELCOME! And because we stress confidentiality, we hope that you will feel that it is a safe place to cry,
to share or just listen.
Beyond the pain, divorce, separation and the ending of a long-term relationship, can be a surprisingling wonderful time
of gorwth, learning, new friendships and new beginnings.
Our monthly meetings provide you with a safe place to come for emotional support during the difficult transitions of
divorce, separation and the ending of a long-term relationship.
We begin at 7:15p.m. giving you a chance to get a cup of coffee and settle in.
It is not unusual to feel overwhelmed when you share your problems or hear another person's. It is normal and can
be part of the healing process.
Discussions are an important part of this group. If you'd rather listen, that's okay. No one will pressure
you to speak.
While we stress confidentiality and anonymity, we also include a phone number exchange with other members as part of
an extended support network, to provide you with encouragement inbetween monthly meetings.

The Stages of Divorce, Separation and the ending of a long-term relationship:
For many of us, divorce, separation and the ending of a long-term relationship seems to happen in these stages:
HOLDING ON: A time when we may not be ready to believe or accept the enormous changes happening in our lives.
LETTING GO: Beginning to say goodbye to the emotional attachments we must leave behind in order to move forward
into a new life as single persons.
STARTING OVER: A time when the grieving subsides and we start to feel energetic and full of life again.
CONSOLIDATION: Now were ready to apply the lessons weve learned, while growing and healing, to the new issues
in our lives.
Often we may go back and forth among these stages. We may find that we are revisiting a stage during a time
of stress, or when we are facing a difficult, new issue during the legal or healing process.
This group is facilitated
by our Pastoral Associate, John Fruner. John holds a B.A. in Religion, a B.S.
in Human Services, an M.S. in Human Services, an M.A. in Theology and an MSW (Master of Clinical Social Work) while currently
studying for an M.Div (Master of Divinity) at Union Theological Seminary.
